ABOUT US

Founded by childhood friends Rupert Power & Sophie Bathgate, Sophie's Steakhouse opened on the Fulham Road in 2002 with a simple mission; to deliver great food, great drinks & great fun!  Appealing to broad cross section of people, the goal has always been to give our guests a damn good time. 

Following the success of Sophie’s Chelsea, Sophie & Rupert opened a second flagship 250 seat restaurant & bar in Covent Garden’s Wellington Street in 2008.  Eight fantastic years in the heart of theatreland, began their love affair with London’s vibrant West End.  When the building was redeveloped another opportunity arose to take an historic site within the West End, this time in Soho.
In 2017 the pair developed the ground floor of the former Moulin Cinema into Sophie’s Soho; a beautiful terrace, bar & steakhouse centred around a bespoke wood fired grill inspired by trips to Argentina & the Basque Country.  The basement of Great Windmill Street had previously been the Scene Club thoroughout the 1950’s & the upper parts home to Jack Solomons Gym in the 1940’s.

Keen to pay hommage to the important role boxing & music had played within the Soho community in the post war years, Rupert & Sophie opened Jack Solomons Club at 41 Great Windmill Street.  A speak easy specialising in gin & whisky, Jack Solomons Club epitomises old school soho glamour.

As an owner operated hospitality business, over the last 21 years, Rupert & Sophie have nurtured relationships with key suppliers based on shared family values.  Sourcing great quality British ingredients & serving as much UK based seasonal produce in the restaurants has always been important.

Sophie’s take beef very seriously.  For well over a decade, we have worked in partnership with Philip Warren Butchers, to ensure consistent supply of the very best suckling herd, native breed beef direct from the West Country.  Philip & Ian Warren are champions of regenerative agriculture & truly understand that welfare, sustainability & quality go hand in hand.
Inspired by Rupert & Sophie’s early trips to the Big Apple together, we have also built a reputation for fantastic 10oz martinis.  Great steak, giant house martinis & a fun, authentic environment.  Simple!  See you at the bar…!
