“one of the most satisfying parts of work is forging deep relationships with really good people” Sam Altman comments in this article. http:// I couldn’t agree more!

In our little world, we talk a lot about the art of recruitment. Our very unscientific approach to recruitment has always been simple, ‘would I hang out with this person, would I go for a drink with them?’ We very much take the same approach with our suppliers, so when an invitation from The Vintner to take a ‘work trip’ to Bordeaux & visit the chateau where our fabulous Margaux is crafted, we jumped at the chance.

What an unbelievable treat it was. We visited 4 very different, equally inspiring Chateaux, tasted some phenomenal wine in some excellent company. Thank you The Vintner Team!

Here’s what we got up to….

Gavin & Angela Quinney, who ooze hospitality from their very core, were off to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary & left us their magical home, 3 phenomenal cuts of beef, firewood (vines naturally!) & the keys to their cellar. This is how we fared….

The morning after the night before…. first stop was Saint-Julien-Beychevelle & Chateau Gruaud Larose with its epic James Bond style viewing tower & a terrific tour with Arnos.

Next stop,

We felt very privileged to witness the extraordinary vision under construction at Chateau Marquis D’Alesme, hosted by the lovely Delphine.  Blending French & Chinese culture to create their sublimely beautiful winery, working environment & some cracking Margaux.

No visit to Bordeaux is complete without a decadent dinner at La Tupina  & a trip to the infamous rum bar…. The perfect day!

We entered the bio dynamic world of Chateau Climens where drying & creating their own tea to spray & maintain healthy vines is a way of life. Inspiring, beautiful & truly delicious Barsac.

Loved it!  Enormous thanks to The Vintner for their generosity of knowledge & spirit. Best #worktrip ever.
